Standard -30°C operational capability now built natively into the AZ2000, AZ3000, and AZ4000 series

We have announced a significant engineering upgrade across our entire Alt-Azimuth professional mount lineup.

The AZ2000 HPS Combi, AZ3000 HPS, and AZ4000 HPS mounts will no longer feature the optional "Cold Temperature" variant. Instead, due to rigorous materials research and advanced component development, these high-performance systems now feature native, built-in operational capability down to -30°C (-22°F) as part of their standard configuration.

By integrating premium components directly into the standard manufacturing pipeline, we have successfully limited cost increases. This provides research institutions, universities, and aerospace operators with sub-zero operational reliability out of the box, completely eliminating the complexity and procurement friction of choosing custom environmental options.

Engineering for Severe Climates

Operating precise mounts in sub-zero environments introduces critical points of failure. To resolve these issues permanently at the production level, the upgraded standard AZ lineup integrates hardware optimizations previously reserved for specialized custom orders:

  • Low-Temperature Lubricants: Standardized industrial greases that maintain optimal viscosity at -30°C, preventing tracking degradation and mechanical stress.

  • Silicone-Sheathed Wiring: Prevents cable embrittlement and cracking under extreme thermal stress during high-speed slewing.

  • Certified Electronics: Control box components and absolute on-axis encoders certified for flawless performance in harsh, unheated observatory domes.
