The structural integrity of CENTAURUS II relies on a dual-tube Anticorodal aluminum architecture, specifically chosen for its rapid vibration damping and extreme thermal stability. To prevent the microscopic displacements that degrade sub-arcsecond imaging (where a tenth of a millimeter shift can cause significant displacement) the legs utilize oversized spread-clamps for maximum rigidity. Each leg terminates in a tiltable, zero-play contact plate, ensuring a solid footprint on varied terrain and eliminating the risk of movement during long-exposure sessions. This physical stability directly enhances the reliability of the dual-axis tracking models, enabling the superior unguided performance that defines the 10Micron experience.
