The pillar features a sophisticated cone-shaped, octagonal geometry fabricated from high-grade welded steel. With a substantial 250 kg payload capacity, it is built to support everything from portable setups to heavy professional research instruments.
Foundation and Interface: The structure is anchored by a robust 500 x 500 mm bottom plate, while the 240 mm diameter, 1-inch thick top plate provides a massive interface for the mounting hardware.
Acoustic and Vibrational Mass: To further enhance stability, the pillar includes three M14 threaded bolts and a central aperture designed for on-site filling with quartz sand, effectively turning the hollow structure into a solid, inert mass.
Integrated Cable Management: To maintain the clean, snag-free workflow essential for remote or automated observatories, an internal 3-inch tube allows for seamless cable routing through the center of the pillar.
Dimensional Versatility: Recognizing the diverse requirements of different observatory heights and user ergonomics, the pillar is available in a wide range of heights: 60, 80, 100, 115, 125, 135, 145, 155, and 165 cm.
Compatibility and System Integration
To ensure a perfect mechanical mach between the pillar and your 10Micron mount, specific leveling flanges are required. The GM1000 and AZ1000 models utilize leveling flange #2451187, while the GM2000 and AZ2000 series require flange #2451171. For enhanced operational efficiency in the field or the observatory, optional accessories such as a dedicated shelf for the control unit (#2451208) and additional accessory trays (#2451209) can be integrated directly into the pillar structure.
